New year's was around the corner and as I always do, I contemplated where I was at in my life. Every year, when I look inward, I can't help but be disappointed by the outward appearance. Clothes only cover so much. I was and have been for a while, very unhappy with how I look. Over the years, I had packed on a lot of extra weight. Like many people have, I thought about my high school weight. I was 120-something at high school graduation. At 5'9", that was too thin. I snapped back to reality quickly. I have been out of high school over 15 years and was married with 2 young children. I had lost some of my pregnancy weight from each child but not all of it. Frankly, even the weight on my wedding day was higher then I want to be.
So my decision was made. Like many years before, I made a resolution to be healthier in the new year. The difference was, I was committed to doing it and sticking to it.
I started my journey at 264 lbs on January 1st 2008. My goal is 150 lbs. So that is 114 lbs to lose. Start placing your bets on when I will reach my goal because the question is not IF I will make it, it is when.
